I don't mind a light blue lens for bright days. otherwise it's clear for evening rides. Glasses keep the bugs and gunk out of my eyes and keep my eyes from watering if descending. They are a fashion accessory that I don't buy into.

The argument isn't about cheap or expensive glasses but about fake ones which may not perform as expected. Okay so there's not a lot of UV around this country most of the year but some members will be heading for the Sun and mountains. (Me included with any luck). Personally I wear a pair of these which after 3 years of abuse and a few falls are still scratch free. The main selling point was the bifocal insert so I can read menus without having to fork out for prescription sports glasses. Full UV protection and impact tested to Ansi z87.1 "A high velocity test is conducted, at 6 specified impact points, where the projectile is a ¼ inch steel ball traveling at specific speeds depending upon the type of protector. For spectacles, the velocity is 150 ft/sec or 102 mph." I bought these after going head first into a hedge after an insect got in behind my normal glasses.

Points I'll take away: a. don't ride into hedges head first. b. someone who's gone straight into a hedge, who's bought safety glasses, is going to promote buying safety glasses. They look good though!

... and thinking further, I've been convinced to bolster my defenses, so just dusted off this bad boy, bring on the bullet speed gravel ! I could tell tall tales of the stuff that's bounced off this lid, perhaps even the explosion of feathers and bird innards that filled it once, but that's water that's long since flowed under the bridge .

UV filtering.... In this country? You guys are surely having a laugh! If I wear cycling glasses they are almost always clear lenses. They are to protect me from insects mainly or spray from the wheel in front. Do you wear UV filtering lenses at all other times even when not cycling? Everytime I wear any form of glasses... for the same reason as above, it's basically impossible not to.

Some say he can rip tyres with his bare hands and that when he sprints you can actually hear the sound barrier breaking....All we know is he's called The Rad!

Slight bit of sun and yes i wear dark lenses (not just cycling). I wear contact lenses and have sensitive eyes so if i don't have shades on i'm squinting. Never got out on the bike without glasses and 80% of the time they're good old China specials. Think this debate started off about lenses not being polarized i guess you just got unlucky as every pair i've had from China have come with 2 - 4 sets of lenses of which one has been polarized. I've always paid £10+ for these so if i'd paid £1 then i wouldn't have expected too much.

My latest replacement SuperHero stuff arrived today ready for another year of fighting fat. All the stitching is perfect but the pad seems to have changed - hopefully for the better. Medium for me.

I think the fact you passed this guy is your answer KeV When I say passed I mean we were travelling in opposite directions! Passed, not overtook. Is that a word? Should be.
