The last post 'cycle the park' thread just made me think about this again.
Take extra care if you happen to be out on your bike when a game is due to start.
I realise that the timing of the games means that they are mostly very late and so tend to be out of the way in terms of cycling. But last time the World Cup was on, I witnessed some lunatic driving from those who were racing home through rush hour traffic in order to see a match. It was as if they thought they were exempt from the normal rules of the road and could use the excuse "well, I had to get home for the game (innit)". These people take no prisoners.

It is rather awesome cycling when the football is actually on though.
Completely empty roads, I finished the ride with enough time to catch the last 15 mins on the car radio, and then was unloading the bike from the car when everyone exited the pubs.

The Sunday morning after the 11pm match on this Saturday just gone was startlingly quiet too. I imagine most people were smart enough to realise they may be hung over/still drunk. Unfortunately I was driving not cycling though. Sunday is my countryside walking retreat, but the roads looked lovely :-)
