We're an off shoot of Cycle Chat, rather than bore them all with our Triban talk, that's how the forum took off - many of the members here are members there; not much point in cross linking the threads. The guy on there just describes an upgrades route, there are plenty of those on here, some have done it within the first 1000 miles and others have gone miles on original kit. On the whole the bike wears no differently to other bikes if maintained well but the wheel bearings and BBs are a little weak and susceptible to bad weather / abuse, so will wear quickly, as you'd expect on a budget bike. A new BB from Deca is peanuts, so are the wheels but most people upgrade to something fancier; still a smart move buy when you're beginning, as you may not get out much, so have a bike that allows you to roll cheaply as a taster, if you like road riding, you and the bike progress ... that's the essence of the Triban story for many here.

I've stuck 7,500 miles on mine. I wrote up somewhere what I've had to replace so far and have just replaced the crankset for the first time and also fitted its 3rd bottom bracket. My bike has had some hammer and will continue to receive more.
@davefy7 had put more miles on his bike than me but killed it with a rear mech failure resulting in a bent frame.

It doesn't sound like he "actually" looked after it to me.
"on paths and roads" paths... I wonder what paths, I'd not take my 23mm tyres off road - and the 10-12 p*******s suggests something is very wrong with his route.
My T3 (red so not T3a) has done 950 miles according to Strava (I log anything of notable distance for this purpose mostly, so that's not going to be much short of truth).
Brake pads I changed this week, they didn't really need doing yet, but I got the Clarks ones others have recommended as I was making another Amazon purchase and they got me into the free postage.
I switched the chain a couple of weeks back as it was just starting to stretch and I thought I'd rather that than wear the cassette for now (as I keep thinking I might upgrade the whole drive train one day).
My wheels are still true despite the terrible roads of west Berkshire, but my tires were changed a few weeks back when I got a huge split in the tyre... yet I have still only had 1 p******* (LUCKY). That said, I want to upgrade, when I have the cash.
I've had a couple of embarrassing, learning to be clipless, incidents... no mech damage.

These are just bike maintenance issues - another of my buddies has a Specialzed Allez, he rides it far less than I ride my T3, never cleans it all that well and has had to replace parts - he pays a shop to do it because he's a busy sort of bloke who works long hours and has cash to burn; not sure what the point of this thread is - probably better worded as 'how long do parts last?' as it's not specific to the bike really. Clarks pads are dire get them off ASAP!

I must say they don't feel any different from the stock ones.

They're not great for rim wear IMO.

I'll swap them when I do the wheels, or I next make an order (avoid postage cost).

They're not so bad in dry weather but watch them in the wet, as they like to grind the rims IME.

OK, don't do much rain riding on purpose.

If you ride longer, all year round, it's inevitable you will at some point.

First 1000 miles. Replaced pedals. Maintenance is the key in my opinion.
Would also agree that clark pads are pants in the wet and must be avoided! Saying that the original ones are pants in the wet also but wont wreck the rims!

From a quick scan that looks a very positive review, he admits to treating it rough, says it's built like a tank, would buy another and would recommend it to a friend

2000 miles and not a stock item replaced beyond the pedals and saddle.

I've got clarks pads on mine at the moment, have not been impressed with them in the wet rides I've done. Very gritty and noisy. Planning on changing them soon.
