Purchased a T3a end of April. The FD and chainset didn't seem right from the start with alot of chain rubbing and problems chainging gear at the front. A week later took it back to Decca Edinburgh for them to take a look. The mechanic agreed that there was an issue with the parts and said he would order new parts and phone within a week with an update. I waited a week and not hearing anything I phoned them and spoke to the bicycle dept manager. He said there was no record of me having been in and that the parts were not ordered. He said he would order the parts there and then and that I would again receive a phone call advising when I should bring the bike in. Two weeks went by and still no word. I again phoned for an update and spoke to the bike dept manager. Apparently parts had been in for a week but nobody had called me. I was really p***ed off at this point and enquired about a full refund. After some deliberation Decca decided a refund in full due to lack of customer service.
Anyway I am now back to commuting on my 90s Raleigh with basic Shimano Exage groupset and running 32c tyres and the ride is so much more comfortable than the T3a. It has made me realise how uncomfortable the saddle on the T3a actually was. Also the basic 20+ year old Exage gears function better and quieter than the microshift offering on the T3a.
Needless to say I will not be buying a budget bike from Decca again.

That's a shame. I'd been happily commuting on my Trek 6700, which, since taking off the nobblies has been a beautifully comfortable bike. But, my T5a has been a revelation. Light, quick and fun to ride. Yes, there's a bit more 'vibration' because of the narrower wheels and to me the Sora shifters seem a bit 'plasticy' and cheap. But, its so much lighter, more responsive and fun to ride.
My experience with two Decca stores has been pretty good - Not faultless, but when they have made mistakes, they have been falling over themselves to rectify them. Can't think of too many other companies that do the same. Also, I was surprised that they took your bike back and gave you a full refund. Again, not many others would do that in this day and age (unfortunately).

I have to admit I was satisfied with the customer service in the end and the refund.
I doubt I'll stay mad at Decca for long.
Back to the drawing board with finding a suitable commuting bike.

Why not commute on the 90's bike ? An old comfy bike with great shifting gears sounds perfect and you could then use the money for a weekend bike.

But I sneak it into the commute when I'm either tired, late or the weather is good and I want to ride fast! Come back into the fold @damwin . Get yourself a T500. Come back to the dark side....
