Hi there. My triban 500 is due to arrive in a couple of days and I have to start thinking about storage... I cannot store it in the house. I was going to invest in a bike tent from halfords and anchor it to the floor on the patio in my back garden or the other option is to store it in my shed.
For shed storage I thought about hanging it horizontally, but cant find any hooks for sheds. The shed stays pretty dry all year round... I have heard it's better to keep it off the ground. Recommendations would be good.

Mine hangs from 2 hooks around the stem and the nose of the saddle, They are attached to a girder in the garage roof. I have a chain that goes around that and the bike for security.

I went to quite a bit of trouble positioning brackets so that my son could hang a bike from the underside of the carport in the backyard. It's difficult to get them right so that you latch onto some part of the bike AND not cause it any damage.
Then one day I went around to my neighbours. He was using the identical brackets (cheap plastic hooks from Wilko's) but he turned the bike upside down and hung it by it's wheels.
This was so obvious in hindsight that I felt like kicking myself. It's very easy to put the bike on, it holds really well and you can put most bikes (individually) on the same set of hooks because the wheelbase doesn't vary that much.

For extra space in my shed I hang some bikes from the wall by the front wheel. The hooks are horizontal, about 3/4 of the way up the wall, hook the front wheel in and the bike rests with it's tyres against the wall.

I am currently looking at a complete reconfig of my shed to get my bikes in it. Problem is that the lawnmower won't fit in. Oh well, it is a lot cheaper than the bikes.

My better half gave me permission to buy one of these last summer and I can only agree with this comment, just don't start assembling it an hour before it's due to start getting dark! Doh!!

I have been given the green light to get one of them ...
Ok the best way to do this is keep the bike in the front room and leave your bike stuff everywhere!
It wears them down slowly but it works !

Have only had my beautiful 500SE for a week now and want to keep her in the very best condition but constrained by the physical space in my flat (there is an external shared old brick wash house but no door & leaky roof hence not an option. Had a Halfords voucher kicking around so bought one of these wall stands. But have a concern and would very much appreciate advice - - the plastic coated hooks are pressing the rear brake cable against the frame as well as exerting some additional pressure on the cable cover just fore of the seat post. Best to remount using a wheel-attached mount do you think? Cheers

Bit of old inner tube under the cable and the other hook under the seat stay when you hang it up?

mines in a rented garage which i will have to let go soon as the rent is dreadful. I have a back garden so was thinking about the Asgard. alternatively as i have a brick gardn wall, i may make a shelter against it

Bit of old inner tube under the cable and the other hook under the seat stay when you hang it up? Good suggestion Chas, cheers. I have now moved the bike forwards on the hooks so that the rear (right hand as I look at it) is now under the joint where the rear stay meet the seat post upright (excuse my clumsy terminology!) thus taking the pressure off the rear cable bracket. This has relieved pressure from the front hook so that the brake cable isn't as stretched but I'll look out some old inner tub to be extra sure!
