Finally got round to changing my 2 week old puncture today (i know, I know!) and remembered about the possible damage that I came across when I first changed the puncture a few weeks ago. (There's no air in the tyre on the second photo) Am I best to buy new tyres?

So that's a yes then? Yes IMO tyres must be free of faults or defects. They are the bits that keep you on the road and I've seen the results, to both bike and rider, after a blow out at reasonable speed (>20mph) - not pretty.

Cheers. Thought as much but still (stupidly) went for a ride which involved hurtling down a cat4 hill at speed.. Made it through unscathed luckily but might order those posh slicks that are on offer or get the 501/tube/tyre combo that was in the bargain alert thread the other day.

Agreed with above. Don't muck around with tyres, if blow especially front one then you're in a world of trouble! I repair little nicks and cuts with shoe goo but big slash like in top pic means replacement.

You might want to do that valve up, too!

Replacing tyres is cheaper than fixing broken bones. Don't compromise on safety.

I might risk them for a sedate commute, certainly not for hurtling down hills

Loads of good offers on around on the net for all budgets and whatever you choose will be better than worn out damaged Btwin originals!
Just do it!
