Reminds me of George Formby on the Shuttleworth Snap in his film No Limits

I wonder how much drag all that bracketry holding them on causes?

Nothing new.... Agreed but I doubt if improved aerodynamics was the motivation for the design this classy looking bike.

That's ridiculous.

Nice sail, that'll be a bundle of laughs in a side-wind.

I searched for a picture of those polythene things that used to fill in the side of the mudguards on old shopping bikes, but to no avail. They were sort of pleated at the hubs and looked like an after-market fitting, quite common when i was a lad.

Nice sail, that'll be a bundle of laughs in a side-wind. Jon. When I first saw this idea I decided to build my own and they have proven themselves. Sitting upright gives me the same performance as riding aero bars. This is the single most effective aero boost I can think of. Critics do not know what they are talking about because they have never tried them. These fairings improve stability in cross winds, they increase tire adhesion, they increase coasting distance and they become more effective as the head wind increases. Mine are very crude and they cost me 10 dollars to make. To properly make them there are a lot of small details to figure out and I can understand the inventor charging a high price for them. But they are far cheaper and more effective than disk wheels and THEY DO NOT ACT LIKE SAILS IN A CROSSWIND. Once enough people discover these, they will become the holy grail of aerodynamics.

That's ridiculous. If you have not tried them how can you justify such a false statement? Once I tried these I don't want to ride without them.

I wonder how much drag all that bracketry holding them on causes? Only a miniscule amount compared to the drag generated by the spokes at the top of the wheels.

Got any actual study data? ... or your comments are as much opinion as anyone else's. Interesting user name, suggesting total scientific impartiality (not).

Got any actual study data? ... or your comments are as much opinion as anyone else's. Interesting user name, suggesting total scientific impartiality (not). Only my own experience using them. The most interesting observation I've made is that I can sit upright and duplicate the performance I used to get with aero bars. Not too bad for a $10. modification. My impartiality or lack therof means nothing. Unless you have actually ridden them you have no basis from which to comment. I have ridden them and have commented. If you ride them and dislike them I will not question your partiality because you will then know what you are talking about.

How about a picture of your bike with them fitted please? I'm always on the quest for more speed.

How about a picture of your bike with them fitted please? I'm always on the quest for more speed. As you can see, my bike is electric assist , anywhere from 10% to 100%. Since I used to pedal ultramarathons in my younger days I am always looking for ways to extend my battery range. These upper wheel fairings may be the single most effective aero mod possible. When I first found the Null Winds website I decided to test the technology and I was amazed how well it works. They are extremely difficult to set up properly however; that is why the inventor charges so much for his, they have infinite adjustments to tune them perfectly. Mine are by no means perfect but they give me 5% increased top speed and 20% increase in battery range. The front and back each seem to have the same effectiveness, ie they are twice as good when both used together. I estimate these will become the holy grail of aerodynamics once people get to know about them and try them. I have no affiliation with the company which sells them; I am both excited and enthusiastic because I have experienced how well they work. They may be just as effective as disk wheels but they actually improve stability in crosswinds. I have had mine on and off dozens of times to test the differences and I am at the point where I do not want to take them off. THEY ARE THAT GOOD
