Being a noob to the sport I am gradually getting the kit & clothing I need. One thing I urgently need is some decent gloves.
At at the moment I am using some running gloves but they are freezing in the morning, and padding is useless..
Anyone got any recommendations for chilly mornings even over the 'summer' months?

Mine were from aldi and certainly do the trick. I think they were about £5. They have some new gear for release soon

aware this aint much help right now - but for a cozy pair of cheap winter gloves - go aldi. Sometime in september they do a winter cycling week. the gloves are a bargain - £5 and keep your fingers warm in all weathers.

Depends on how you want to dress but black fleece gloves from the bargain shops do the job nicely and don't take up much room in your jersey pocket. If you want cycling specific gloves I've just bought 2 pairs from start cycles. There is also a code on here somewhere (TRIATHLETE10) for 10% off. Scott and good quality. startcycles.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/index/?dir=asc&order=price&q=Scott+gloves

That's an Aladdin's cave for gloves @davefy7 !
With you on the fleece ones for £3 from outdoor stores also, found the Aldi winter ones OK but too hot if temps above really cold, the fleece ones breath and keep you warm.

My mate at work showed me a photo of his wardrobe. All his cycling gear was neatly laid out in it. Very meticulous. His civvy clothing was in a small plastic box at the bottom of the wardrobe. "That's all the clothes I have in there", he said. It did get me thinking about how many items of civvy clothing I have knocking about that are seldom worn. Maybe time for a good clearout.

Thin pair of 'liner' or 'running' gloves under my normal fingerless ones with padding for the morning, fingerless ones for the ride home.

Tesco (the bigger ones) sell a pair for about £7.50 which seem ok. Probably going to pick some up at some point.
