so I happened into my local Evans just to get a spare tube and I asked about price discrepancy between the High5 race pack instore (£13)and online (£10).
The guy I asked happened to be the manager and his answer was just "oh we price match against our own website". And also added "all our Continental tyres are priced more expensive instore than online". I don't even want to know about more expensive items like actual bikes.
So if you ever have to go instore to Evans to buy anything, then at the very least check their own online price, and don't assume the instore price will be the same.

Pretty much the same everywhere, Especially Halfords. It's much easier to change the price on the website (to keep up with competition) than it is to change all the price tickets on items across all the stores. I saw a woman at the counter buying a helmet for £70 in Halfords, I mentioned to her just in time that the helmet was now £35. )She didn't give me any of what she saved!) ALWAYS quote the website price when you shop in-store. Even check while you are in the store to make sure!

Yep, I always check on my phone while I'm in the store if buying anything from those two (not often). Last time I even stood in front of the till at Halfords while I bought it on my phone using 'click & collect' or whatever it's called. Nice chat with the girl on the till while it showed up on the system and saved myself a decent amount as well.

It's the same with decathlon too. I get the emails about the offers and drag Mrs Slog to the the store on that basis, only to find that they don't exist.

If you've travelled for an offer you've recieved they should honour that offer, but emails are sent out nationally and there may be stock issues at local stores. If you reserve online you'll find out if there's stock locally, or if you're already there ask if they can reserve one for you at the offer price when stock comes in. There are sometimes clearance offers which stay on the website long after all the stock has gone so it's worth checking before travelling.
