Try it, if you like it get it. Don't let the red brigade cloud your judgement ( although they are faster ). Ride it, enjoy it, upgrade it, ride it some more.

Eh? Wouldn't go that far - 8 speed v 10 speed? Pushing the issue a little too far there IMHO. Was the older 9 speed Tiagra I tried admittedly. It is the actual method of operation of the shifters that I like so much, wasn't referring to the ratios. When the time comes to upgrade the crankset I will go with the Microshift White. Part of my budget has gone on a Fulcrum Racing 7 wheelset and 11/28 scram casette/chain, but don't intend to fit them yet. I haven't even opened the free sweeties that came with them.

I think we're in danger of mixing the comparisons in a confusing way here now ... if you're on about the old white T5, then I don't think the shifters were Tiagra (as I know them at least) but the thumb click types? 2012 10 speed Tiagra shifters have a lever and paddle system - I believe they also had this system when 9 speed (from a quick Google). I may be wrong but I think the T5 White had the same as similar to the T3 Red (thumb click type Shimano 2300). Edit: Actually Sora www.decathlon.co.uk/btwin-triban-5-white-id_8167039.html

Thank you everyone, great advice. I have bought the 3A (or the 300 as they now seem to call it!) and will be getting it on Thursday all being well! Thanks again

@nickthenovice Hope you enjoy it. The sun is shining this morning so just had a short blast out on mine and it still feels good, although my legs are a bit short of power this morning having done a 20 mile/1 hour blast yesterday. That's something that I wouldn't have even got close to before buying the bike last year, so just riding DOES make a difference :-) Have fun.
