No. Thinking about this - Is that a 'No you don't have to spend £60' or 'No you don't need to change them' ?

Keep the current tyres pressured high to avoid pinch P*******s, ride with vigilance, wear the current ones out and then think about it. I've been on a £20 offer set of folding 23 Conti Ultras all winter and have ridden muddy / gravelly canal tow paths etc.

Read this thread with interest (and am going to look at more about tyres). I've got a T5 with the standard Hutchinson Equinox on at the moment. Haven't had any issues, but only done a couple of hundred miles. Haven't used the bike for commuting yet, but have just put Roadracer IIs on it to get ready. Question is, do I really need to spend £60 on a pair of tyres to replace the HEs to get something more P******* proof? There are degrees or protection. I spend most of my time on country lanes mostly lined by thorn hedges and on the stock tyres could rarely complete a 30mile circuit without a problem. Did well with Luganos (£16.00 each) until the side got cut. Now I am using gatorskins (£20.00 each) which are well thought of. At a similar price my mate reckons that Bontragers are good. As I understand you are one of our luxury size members you need to consider the max pressure. 110 for Luganos may be a bit low. 25s rather than 23 may be a better choice.

Thanks. Will persist with the HEs for the time being and wait to see when there is something else on offer.

If you're not getting punctures then roll with them. It wasn't an option in London, where you need them! Anyone want a set of barely used Hutchinson Equinox tyres?!
