Evening
Need to get my daughter a bike and she is dead set on red triban 3. Slight issue I have is with sizing. She's 15 and 5'3" which according to Decathlon sizing chart puts her on a 51, but this strikes me as too large...I am a short legged 5'8" and ride 51 kinesis. I appreciate the geometries may be slightly different but that's too big for her. Any suggestions, thoughts or otherwise greatly appreciated.

I'm 5'8" and ride a 54 Triban. Think the sizing differs between manufacturers so a 51 Triban may be smaller than yours. The 51 Triban also comes with 650 wheels.

I'm about 5'4-5" tall and i have a 51 with the seat pretty high. It fits me nicely. Can you get to a shop and try one out??

Agree best to try one. The sizing is 'measured' from crank centre to where a virtual horizontal top tube would meet the seatpost so in height it is smaller than 51cm. However the length of this virtual top tube is about 53cm so if as most teenage girls she has long legs it will be too long for her short body. It depends how much more you expect her to grow, she may be better with a 48cm.

Thank you to one and all. Concluded that trip to store cannot be avoided if I am going to get this right. Just need to talk eldest into a longish train journey...

Bit the bullet and will be traveling up from darkest rural Sussex to the big smoke this weekend. Hope to leave with one happy daughter and triban 3 in tow.
Thanks one again.

All sorted. Went to Surrey Quays store and my daughter tried both the 51 and 48 and concluded the former was too much of a stretch. She loves the 48...That said, her enthusiasm was somewhat tempered on Sunday when she managed to find possibly the only tack on our street within 10 minutes of riding it! Still she does now know how to fix a puncture.
