Anyone used these? What brand? Recommended?
See some Fizik ones, but Β£15!
Or would gloves just be better?
Have had issues, unrelated to cycling, with my wrists in the past. Don't want it to return. Started from power tool use, then too many gym visits and so on...wrist wrecked at 25 :/

Worth checking the angle of your wrists on the bike, need to be more or less straight down from your for arms onto the hoods.
Gel pads are suppose to the be good, but yes, expensive. I've seen mentions of double thickness of bar tape works or cut out a shape from a mouse mat and put that under the tape for a cheaper fix.

Have tried for ages to get my wrists straight in all positions. Can manage it on the drops, and on the top curve of the bar. But just not quite on the hoods. Can if I angle the lever way up, but that's no good.
been through 4 different bars now, 80,90,100,110 stems.
Maybe the solution is to lower the bars. Hmmmmm

Yes lower bars?... If my wrists are angled slightly towards the floor on the hoods atm
Must be. Time to slam that stem and experiment.

I can recommend Specialized Phat Wrap. I has definitely reduced the "numb hand" syndrome together decent gloves.

I tried the double thickness bartape the last time I changed my bartape, and Tbh prefer it just single thickness. I seemed to get more wrist ache with the extra inserts. Since changing back much more comfortable. I think a good pair of mits might be a better answer as the padding is always where you want it.

Lowered bars by 10mm, seat by 4-5mm, 110mm stem on, seat forward 15mm, bars rotated slightly up, wider bars (46cm from 44cm, shoulders don't round now) has all sorted me. Bike feels very very good. It's ridiculous how such little changes add up to totally different feel.
So weight has gone forward a bit on the bike. Had to buy an in-line seat post. Bars need re-wrapping :/. Pedaling feels more fluid and can put more power into the motion. Knee cap is now above pedal axle at 3oclock now, was just slightly behind before.
Really worth spending some time examining your fit. Took me a good few hours.

Re-wrapped my bars today, decided to try a bit of padding underneath. I had these pads in my 'man draw' - they are actually for under furniture legs for wooden floors. Bought a while back from Tesco for Β£1 on that bit of the isle that has a cardboard rack of stuff like packets of straws, key rings and 2 sink plugs... I cut 1 pad into 2 to and placed onto the bars where the most pressure is on my hands. and wrapped over with Planet X Cork Gel Bar tape - which feels very good, its also long enough to do a figure of eight around the hoods. Nice and padded now!
