Do you find it ok starting from lights in the big ring with the 25 cassette cog? Can you get speed up quickly? Is there a lot of cross chaining here?
I love bombing it away from lights in the middle ring. I can't really try it in the big ring with the triple as the cross chaining is high.
How do you find the compact in general?
I have a triple at the moment. I have never used the smallest ring and mainly spend my time in the middle ring and middle to smallest cassette cog. I feel as well that with the triple, when I would need a lower gear, it will take to long to get to it.
I am thinking about swapping it all to a compact. Wont cost much.

If those are the gears you are using then a compact would be great for you. You say you are mainly on the middle 39, with a compact you will be able to get on the 50 in the middle of the cassette and then use the smaller 34 for the upward stuff. Cross chaining is not as bad as you would think now with modern equipment, try not to do it but getting the biggest cog in an emergency while on the big ring is not going to hurt. - Yes you can pull away from the lights in the 50 and about halfway up the cassette. Changing to the 34 take a bit of getting used to as the difference is quite large, I usually give 1 shift down on the left and 2 shits down on the right, then it's pretty much the same cadence that you can then tune to whatever you need at that time. Get a bargain compact While they are on offer from Plane X: Shimano:Ultegra Hollwotech Bottom BracketTiagra Compact (170mm)You can jump up in price for 105 (5750), you can still shop around for around Β£90
