A friend and fellow Barnsley Road Club member has been of his bike(s) recently due to a bad knee which led to a blood clot, so he was instructed to take it easy. He decided to build a bike to pass the time! He showed me his creation the other night, very nice indeed it is. SAB frame in club colours (Turquoise, black and white), Black 105 throughout, with the usual Fizik, and T3 (I think) finishing kit. I looked up SAB afterwards and found out that Planet X had acquired the business a few years ago including the warehouse full of stock! Full story HERE
I was surprised how cheap Planet X was selling the SAB frames for... Β Bargains to be had.My friend's bike looks pretty much like this but with 105 components, He's undecided whether to keep it or sell it. (must say, I'm tempted!!!) Planet X SAB Classico

I realise this is an old thread but just found it. Well I've bought an SAB Classico frame in........RED! It was down to Β£60 and just couldn't resist. Also managed to get some columbus firks reduced too. I'm going to move the upgraded bits from my t3 over and make this my posh bike, provided I get on with it, and then restore the original bits and spares to the t3 and that'll be the bad weather bike. My red t3 is a 57 and so looking at the frames side by side, the 55 sab seems almost identical except forbade slightly longer seat tube and therefore less sloping top tube. But the proportions and angles are almost identical. The frame and forks weigh in quite a bit less than the triban: 1.75kg without headset so I hope the final build might come in around 9kg. Crucially its the full carbon rear and full carbon forks that I am hoping will smooth my ride owing to the delightful roads around me. However, unfortunately I wont have any excuses when I get dropped on the hills now! I'll report back when all finished, although am I allowed to post pics in the "my triban" section provided I accompany it with my restored t3?

Oh yes and from a distance it looks just like the Ridley bikes that LottoBelisol are currently on in the Tour!
