Hi
Just recently discovered what an amazing spec bike the Triban 3 is - only after buying a Carrera Zelos the weekend from Halfords ( Which i am returning tonight)
Popped into Decathlon lunchtime, only to be told the only Triban 3s they have left are the 51cm frames !!
He couldnt tell me if they would be getting any more in - or even when the new models would be released
Is this a similar story at the other stores ??
Thanks
Andy

Some stores have different stock levels. Don't trust the website as an indication. New bikes are due in store in April (500 SE)
Hope you find what you want, post on this forum if you need advice.
You are right to take back the halfords bike, any triban is better value than halfords own brand in my (and others here) opinion. Boardman is not a halfords own brand. (They are decent bikes)

It may be worth while phoning up all Decathlon stores within a 50-70 miles radius to see if they stock any in your size.
If you arrange a courier then they can send it to you. The courier may be a cheaper option than driving there.
As Ian says, their stock file is about as much use as a chocolate teapot so always better to phone the actual store. Hope you find one mate, it's a country mile better than the Halford's Carrera models.

Depends what you mean by Triban3, the Red ones with carbon forks are only available in small (45, 48, 51cm) sizes. The White Triban 3 is available in all sizes but being renamed the Triban 300

Not sure what size you're after but I called every store within several hundred miles for a red in 57cm to no avail.
In the end, I rode a 54cm red 3 and a 57cm white 3a. The latter doesn't have the carbon forks but I couldn't tell the difference and actually preferred the shifters to those on the red. You could do worse than go and have a ride on the white Triban 3a and see what you think - retails at £300, which is 20% more than the red, rather than the 45% more that the new 500SE's going to be.

Just remembered the 500SE uses the same shifters as the 3a anyway, I think?

I preferred the look of the white 3a personally - loved the tyres as well. Would have been nice to have the carbon fork though and Sora front mech though.
as you say . maybe I should give it a try, not that you can try them outside the store,

I check each time I go into the Giltbrook store (nottingham) and I'm sure there were 3x 54s in there last time, which was about 3 weeks ago.

I have the White T3a - It's a very good bike, I have upgraded it over the last few months, including adding carbon forks (the original ones are steel) The new 300SE has carbon forks, hence a little bit more money. Same MicroShift gearing (which I like very much) If you want the red original T3 make sure you check out the BUY AND SELL section of this forum. You can guarantee it's a genuine owner and probably been looked after / upgraded. Sorry to hear about your stolen bike.
