Hi Guys,
So I've just picked up my first racing bike, a second hand red Triban 3!!
At the moment I've got nothing other than a bike. So I'm just looking for some advice from some of the cycling veterans on here.
As a complete beginner on a budget, I'm after some help on clothing, essentials and any other tips, no matter how glaringly obvious you think they may be.
My first stop is halfords, to get a helmet and pump.
Any advice will be really appreciated!!

The best way is to have a Photbucket account, upload the pictures into that, and then copy/paste the picture's URL link into the dialogue box that comes up when you click the 'image' button (that's the one that looks like a picture and is between the envelope and the clapperbard icons). Congrats on the bike. Good choice. I'm guessing you bought that on a budget, sio forget Halfords and get yourself over to a Lidl, they're having a sale of bike stuff now.

Welcome @tommywils to the forum. Totally agree with captslog forget Halfords get your self to either Decathlon, Lidl, Aldi or SportsDirect Not sure where you are based but there must be one of these near to you. First priority for me would be the helmet and then a track pump to get the tyres up to pressure. A couple of spare inner tubes, a puncture repair kit and a drinks bottle and then get out there and do some miles. Once you have a few rides under your belt your shopping list will become more apparent e.g. saddle, clothing and bike upgrades Have fun

Another vote for sports direct for starter clothing. I've done 1000 miles in stuff from there...just remember to untick the cup when buying online, we ended up with loads! One other thing when starting out, regardless of the pedals you use, try not to pedal too hard. Surprisingly easy to do. Save the hard pedalling for hills. Welcome to the club

As it happens, Lidl are having their cycling sale starting tomorrow. You will be able to buy helmet, track pump, cycling shorts and top fora. Very reasonable price. No point splashing out mega bucks on expensive gear to begin with. The padded shorts from Lidless are far better than the Sports Direct/Muddyfox ones.
Welcome to the forum by the way, enjoy the T3.

Welcome to the club, I've always found Decathlon do some nice stuff, Not bad price's.
The world wide web is a good place, Only problem being you cant try before you buy, but most sights will allow returns, plus you can get some Good or bad reviews on what ever your are looking for.
Hope you enjoy the T3

Maybe try Aldi if you have one close by. In the reduced section. My store has loads of cycling gear left over.

At decathlon you can find tye type "5" (red foam pad) that are enough to start, but you will pass to "7" in the future. 5) jersey type "5" too 6) gloves with gel inserts 7) cycle computer 8) front and rear light (T3 is delivered with them included) 9) under-saddle bag 10) two air tubes to be fitted in the bag 11) water bottle 12) levers to remove tyres 13) hand pump to be attached to the frame tube (to be used as emergency) 14) foot pump with presure gauge (the instrument is quite mandatory), for normal use 15) oil for chain 16) clipless pedals and shoes (not now, but in the near future) This is the list for an italian beginner cyclist that lives in a hot and sunny country! If you live in a foggy and rainy place, I guess you will find useful some other item too.

I was a complete beginner when I came here also, and also on a budget (I think this is the general theme of all triban 3 owners).
Wiggle website has been my favourite place to buy from. The stuff they sell is designed for biking use. I found sports direct stuff was cheap and nasty and I have since replaced everything I bought from there. Even the water bottles as they were impossible to open and so stiff I could not squeeze them when drinking from then. Wiggles stuff is well priced also.
Good luck with the riding, it's a great way to get out there and shed a few pounds.

Another vote here for Aldi, they usually have their summer cycling specialbuys in late April/Early May and another load of winter cycling specialbuys in October/November. The Aldi 'pro-cycling' winter top from last November is genuinely my favorite piece of cycling clothing I own. It is comfy, keeps mewarm when it is chilly and keeps me cool when it is a tad warmer. All for £30. Bargain.

Could anyone reccomend a cheap but good track pump? I've had my bike a week now and been on three rides, I didn't realise that it was so important to keep them at the right psi. For the Triban 3a what psi should they be?

For the Triban 3a what psi should they be? Tesco (the larger "Extra" ones) do one for less than £15, with a pressure gauge too. I use it. It's ok!
