well it's time to get some bib shorts. Missed the PBK offers earlier in the year and now they're out of stock in my size (med). Any ideas? I've had a look at the btwin 700 and 900. The spec looks good but the styling is a little hmmm. Nonetheless the spec and the price are great. Anyone tried these? as they don't have them in stock at my local store (warrington)
Also had a look at the Shutt club short but again I have no experience of them
Any other ideas? I need a pair that will cope with 4 hrs in the saddle and cost less than £60

Hi, IMO the btwin shorts aren't that comfortable, the pads are quite thin and on the pair i had there was stitching that ran across the front of the pad that made things really uncomfortable down there! I have 2 pairs of the Endura xtract gel bib-shorts and have had no issues with them at all. They are around £45.00 on chain reaction i think. I also have a couple of pairs of Sportful Giro bib-shorts, also very comfortable, I picked them up in the Halfords sale for £22.00 down from £55.00.

For that money I would look no further personally than dhb PRO aeron bib shorts from wiggle. (the pro ones are their top spec ones). About that money and superb for me. Done 100milers with no discomfort at all. Much better than the btwin 5 bib shorts I own (which are fine but not in same league as dhb ones)

They use pads from Cytech, which are a company that the likes of Rapha & Assos use for their chamois pads too. The Rapha boxers I have actually have a better pad than most of my bibs! I have heard good things about the Shutt shorts and also Morvelo, but can't say I've tried them myself (keep almost pulling the trigger on some reduced Morvelo's but haven't gotten around to it yet).

Excellent replies. I'll pop down to halfords to see if they have the sportfuls left. The btwin shorts I was looking at were 2014 shorts so maybe they're a bit different. Hard to tell as they don't have any in the local store also might consi8der funkier as I have some of their waist shorts which are very good

I have used BTwin shorts type "7" and imho the pad is the best that I had until now (I have the same on the winter outfit): very comfortable, no wear, no bad smell. I used them for several thousand kilometers and they are still in a good shape.
The problem with BTwin shorts is that the textile does no resist too much to wear and washing: actually the summer shorts are quite transparents in the back, not very nice too see (I bought them on august 2012, may be that BTwin has changed some material in the meanwhile). The winter one is ok instead, at the end of the second winter.
