Thanks Harley. I'll be buying them as soon as some discount codes come out for a decent shop. Hoping for Β£150-60. Still twice the price of the R501s though! Yes but 10 times the wheel....if you have never had any good quality, light, stiff wheels you are about to have your blinkers taken off....you'll never ride on stock or cheap wheels again

Thanks guys for all the comments and advice.
I managed to pickup a set of Mavic Aksiums from Dekka this morning for Β£146. Dekka even transferred the Hutchinson Equinox tyres and cassette off the original wheels. They replaced the faulty freehub on rear wheel also.
You can't fault service like this :-)

I just bought and fitted these. Went out for 50 miles today. They seem more solid than the T5a stock wheels. The hub on my old rear wheel was knackered so this is a lot smoother.

Thats good to know, i'm just not hugely confident on the stock wheels anymore and as a happy coincidence I was thinking of trying those tyres out as my Conti GP4000S have taken a battering this winter.
Did you switch the original cassette onto them?

I got a new like-for-like replacement for the cassette and a new SRAM chain. The old cassette was looking a bit ropey.

Well I ve covered 80 miles on my new Mavics this weekend and I am very impressed, quite surprised how much difference a descent set of wheels can make. The T7 picks up speed very quickly whilst descending and continues to accelerate. Climbing is equally impressive. Yesterday I managed a 47 mile ride to Flash and on passed the Cat & Fiddle with a total climb of 3200ft, something I wouldn't have attempted on my stock wheels. They feel strong and very predictable inspiring a lot of confidence. I'll keep you posted with how i get on with them over the next few months.

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing U can get a shimano hyper glide (hg) or sram cassette for the rear and a decent chain..u won't go wrong with fulcrum wheels and it will be a big leap up over the stock wheels

Thanks for the advice I've ordered the fulcrum wheel and tyre set from wiggle and also a new sram cassette and chain from chainraction. Just got to sort getting it all onto the bike!

Changing the cassette was the first proper work on the bike. It was surprisingly easy with my trusty Aldi (or maybe Lidl) toolkit. It was a bit of a cheat because it was a like for like replacement. I'll practice servicing the hubs on the old wheels so there's no problem if I cock it up!

They're here! All shiny and new, and still in the box as the new cassette and chain aren't here yet. So one final outing this sunday on the old wheels, just hope it's more successful than last weeks double puncture ruined ride.
