When I was out yesterday I got passed by a number of 'fancy' Giants/Cubes/Specialized/Colangos/etc running 105 & Ultegra and I was surprised how noisy some of them were. Clunky drive trains and skipping chains. I'm sure part of this is down to lack of cleaning/maintenance. My T3 with Tiagra groupset runs near silently. I'm not saying I do anything major other than give the bike a wipe over with baby wipes and clean/oil the chain after every ride, takes about 5-10mins.
Even though I have 'low-end' bike, I still take care of it and want it looking and working it's best. Nothing worse than a noisy bike, but I guess it doesn't bother some people. Each to their own as the saying goes, if it works for them that's fine, but if I had spent Β£1000+ on a bike I'd certainly take a lot more care of it.

Anyone else have to do this? I'm in an apartment so no access to a hosepipe. Managed it with a bucket of hot water, sponge and watering can. There must be better ways though! That's the same way I clean Whitney. Would like a better way too, like get the lad to do it for me No hosepipe connection possible.
