Either way, a Sora crankset, shifters and rear mech is a big improvement over the ounce rubbish on the T3!

...confusing, Decca website shoes a BTwin branded front brake and a Sora branded rear? Someone go check on theirs please!? Is that on the T5 in black? I can check mine later, as I have cycled to work today. The front break is definitely b'twin on my T5 black.

Either way, a Sora crankset, shifters and rear mech is a big improvement over the ounce rubbish on the T3! Didn't say it wasn't but can't be deemed 'full Sora', just 'mainly Sora' - maybe different this year. On the Ounce crank front, I will have that spare crank back off you though, as it's on the lad's bike and will do for spares; the lad's bike will become the lass's and it even fits the Mrs if I put the seat up and a longer stem on it, so it's unlikely to leave our ownership ever and the spares will come in handy.

Sorry Mr. Pedantic And yes, the crank set is yours! It's even in a box and everything. Just need to arrange a time we're both around and I'll pop it down to you.

IMO, the T5-Black is better for the big lads, less crank hassles, the Ounce ones are pants, yes they work but they're still pants! With a T5-Black, you have more front fork clearance, you can add mudguards easily and run 25s (can't do this so easily on T3-Red and T5-White), you've got 9 speed Sora. Sora is universally available, good VFM, easily maintainable / replaceable. The T3-Red is ok (I have one upgraded to Sora / 105 in places) but the T5a is absolutely solid and hard to fault at all; perhaps only the wheels can be niggled at but they're not that bad if greased - my buddy has just bought mine off me as commuting wheels. Compare the T5-Black to this for example: www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/allez-sport-c2-2014-road-bike-ec052507#featuresAs far as I'm aware all the Triban and Fit carbon forks are the same?

Not sure what you mean Chas, the forks I've seen on a 5-Black appeared to be higher and have more clearance than my T3-Red - may be imagining this, discussed it with @trotter just after we'd climbed up past Wookey Hole in the summer so memory may be rusty ... his brake callipers definitely have more clearance (perhaps it was that)?

Here's a pic for comparison purposes:

As I said, I thought they were identical (apart from paint) There've been a couple of different types of caliper fitted (not seen Sora yet), but the clearance depends on the forks so should be the same. Possibly you and Trotter had different tyres? they can vary greatly in actual size even if nominally the same.

I think @trotter is on 25 Conti Gatorskins, I'm on 23 Conti Ultra; perhaps someone can stick a similar pic up and we'll clear this up ... would like to know now.

My callipers were original BTwin ones (since changed to 105s) and @trotter 's were the new black variant - my son has the same on his T3-White; son's bike has steel forks also, definitely more clearance on the steel ones as just checked ... may be thinking of that.
Definitely more clearance on the black callipers over the silver ones though but I may be wrong about the fork clearance.
The Red's callipers don't make fitting mudguards easy, the tip of mine was being pushed down by them into the tyre, so I chopped the front off totally.

Agreed if it is the case it would be good to know, many customers are interested in fitting larger tyres/ mudguards. Would a photo (or just the measurement) of a tapemeasure between the edge of the rim to under the fork help to tell?

I have a feeling that DelB is about to pop a pic ... ! Simple test here - I can stick my index finger all the way into the gap under the fork and above a 23 tyre on my son's T3 White; I can only get the tip of my finger in gap shown in pic above.
