Well, thats it... I'm now the proud owner of a shiney new T5
Just been out on my first ride, a smidge over 35km... and loved every second of it.... very different to my usual mountain bike rides... just cant wait now till I've recovered enough to get out again...
Thanks to everyone for the advice in choosing the right bike :-)

... Strava, you're not on the same astral plane as the rest of us.
Truly believe that is just about as good a start as you can get for road riding in terms of VFM and the triple will be versatile until you're feeling ready to choose otherwise; the World is now your Lobster.

Spoakes - already use Strava (originally for mtb and logging my swimming) you can see it in my signature lol Radchenister - I was keen to stick with the triple mainly from a mental comfort point of view as its what I'm used to on the mtb... I know that doesn't make a whole lot of sense in reality - but it makes me feel like the hills around me will be easier to get up Need to go and find somewhere to get the bike set up looked at now - not overly happy with the way Deca did it - handlebars not straight, gears not properly indexed and breaks not as positive as I'd like, but will give it a few weeks to bed in and allow the cable stretch time to take effect...

You can learn all the simple and most, if not almost all major maintenance and should aim to as well IMO (perhaps leave wheel building to retirement ), if you're going to do any sort of real miles, then fettling your bike is as much part of the deal as riding it.

already a well established "fettler" (a much needed skill with the mtb) - so pretty happy with regular maintenance etc... would just be happier if someone gave it the proper once over first... not 100% happy with the way it was done by the staff @deca

Eh, indexing gears, handlebar straightening, brakes - all easy stuff, perhaps two Allen keys needed? ...but you go for it, whatever makes you happy!

You mentioned using Strava for swimming, what device are you using to log your swim data? A Garmin swim watch or something else? Are you recording swims in the pool, open water or both?
I'm planing on getting the swim watch + an open water wet suit out of my bonus in April and would like to speak with someone about how the watch performs.

I'll be honest - at the moment its only indoor circuits that I've logged, and I've done that manually... when the weather improves, and I get outside I'm tempted to get something like the swim watch, but I need something that'll do deep water as well... sorry I couldnt help...
