Might go for the 57. Only reason I thought possibly the 60 was, I'd been recommended a 56 on another bike, I then read that the 5 was a compact frame so thought I might need to go up a size Oh, and, any reason why there's a £70 difference between black and white, is it a "fashion" thing or something? Cheers The 5 (white) is last years model and essentially has the same frame as the T7a but with a similar group to the T5a, but the 2012 version. The T5a is the same frame as the red T3 but with a better groupset. Space is correct, the 2012 Triban 5 (mine) runs with 2012 Shimano Sora groupset with thumb-shifters. The Shimano Sora on the 2013 5a, runs with the secondary (sprinter shifter) on the hoods. Difference for the extra £70 if you compare the 2 5's together: The +with the 5a, the upside is the fact you get a smoother working group set to last years, the sprinter shifter rather than the thumb shifters and the groupset is in black The -the downside to the 5a is you lose the carbon seat stay (IMO makes it that lil more flexier at back), stronger and lighter frame ...and the group set is in black ..... (lol, trust me black is good and bad in both ways.)

Thank you so much. I'm thinking of buying a red one in second hand for 3/4 of the price, the owner bought it this year! It is as new. Just for curiosity the 60 and 63 are the lenghts of the top or the saddle tube (in the frame)? Can you provide me lenghts of both tubes on both frame sizes? If it isn't asking too much. Thank you once again. Regarding sizing on tubes on the cross bar and seat tubing, they only go up small percentages (possibly 1/4 to 1/2 inch) but this is then applied to all aspects and areas of the bike resulting in that big feel in difference to size, if you placed them next to 1 and other, you'll hardly see the difference in size.

Concerning the weight are there noticiable differences between the 3 and the 3a in frames of the same size?

Regarding weight of the 3a, i haven't been able to weigh but they should actually state on the website but the thing is, the 3a is definitely going to be heavier, unaware of how much but mainly a more front weight ratio increase.

Hey Im just a smudge under 6' tall and inside leg is 31" I have the 60 frame and it does feel a little big. Having a bit of trouble getting the seat height right and it feels a bit of a stretch to the bars. I have flipper the stem over and brought the seat a bit more forward. When I ride over about 10 miles I suffer from tingling/numb hands. Mostly with hands on the hoods. Wierdly enough I also get numb feet. I did wonder if the frame was too big and I should have gone for the 57. I bought mail order and think I ordered the wrong size. Any suggestions? With you being just shy of 6ft. It is difficult to say your either 57 or 60 but with you having an inside leg of 31', my personal opinion would have been try a 57 with high saddle. With handlebar reach, if your used to a MTB, the each will feel slightly more further out but should still remain comfortable but unusual, if its unusual and uncomfortable, then you are overreaching. Can i ask, is your saddle near/on its lowest point and how long you had the bike for? My advise would be if your happy with frame size and saddle position and only unhappy with reach, try a much smaller stem, like a 80-90mm as you might have a 110mm. If still uncomfortable, take it all back to your nearest store and show them what the issue is. Another tip to try is by flipping the neck stem upside down so the -6degree angle is now a +6degree angle. This should raise your positioning and make it feel closer. Do this before purchasing a new stem Thanks dude. I feel I would have gone for the 57, but mistakenly went Foe the 60. I emailed decathlon after I'd got it and had used it for about 200 yds and they didn't want to know. (No local store to me as I live at the bottom of cornwall lol) I feel like I'm always sitting in the front part of the saddle, kinda sliding forwards.the seat post seems like its about half way in. I've adjusted the angle slightly and moved the saddle forward. I'd like to get a bike fit to get in a better position but my local bike shop charges £120 for this and I have no mates who ride to help me out. I've watched loads of YouTube videos about bike fit and have done my best on my own! I shall try the shorter stem and see how I fare with that, I've already flipped it

I'm 5 11 buzz. I went for the 60. It felt a little long so the stem was flipped. It's a little better but ill be buying a 90mm stem I reckon.

Hi Arny,
Can you please give me a quick sizing up:
Sizing of Triban
1. What is your overall height? Just a smidgen under 6ft (I don't tell the ladies that)
2. What is your inside leg length? 32 trousers, I'd say sit bone is a little more. (If unsure, use your trouser length size as that will give the next closest size indicator)
Type of Triban
1. What is your budget your willing to spend? Due to being first road bike and not wanting to spend loads I first said £300, but will stretch to £400 as long as the Mrs doesn't find out.
2. What is your accessories budget and was that part of your original budget? Wasn't really budgeting them from the off.
3. What equipment, safety and accessories do you already own? Already have helmet, pump, clothes from MTB
4. how far/long are you planning to ride? I only have a short commute 3 1/2 miles each way, but want to add weekend leisure riding too
5. are you planning on using it for competitions, a fitness trainer or a commuter? Fitness and commuter
6. If competitions, how many are you planning on competing in annually? None.

hi arran.
right. what we're possibly looking at here is a Triban 5 57cm. This will allow for a more adjustment in the saddle and saddle sliding positioning to bring forwards or back depending on the simple neck stem test to see if you are long in body or short (seeing over handlebars is long body, seeing under bars is short body).
the reason for the Triban 5 over the T3 is because you already have the equipment ready to ride the bike efficiently. However, if you don't happen to have the 5 available for you, go for the 3 and buy yourself some carbon Forks. I'm sure if you asked Workshop, They might do a little bit of digging for you on old bikes and see if they got a matching fork which is carbon. (i know there are spares available, I've seen them about). If not forks, you got 2 other choices. 1. lovely set of mavic wheels (price maybe same as T5a) or 2. buy yourself some nice new clothes or extra parts (new tubes, saddle bag, mudguard, new bottle cage, things only made for road bikes)
Hope this helps

Thanks, that does confirm sizing a bit for me for sure.
I know there are 1 or 2 t3's available within 40 miles of me, however the t5 presuming you mean the white I don't see listed by decathlon anymore just the 5a.
Is the 5a worth 430 and can I still grab a 5 anywhere?
Cheers Arran

well the t5a was the 1 i was actually referring to as that the 1 we now sell.
Well i feel it is as your getting a decent frame and carbon fork with a full Sora groupset on it. and the Sora groupset is the 3500 model meaning the levers for gearing is the brake lever and lever behind the brake. Allowing a gear change when you are in a more aggressive and downhill position.

Ah ha, I got ya!
If that's the case I might try and get down to lakeside next weekend and give one a go and see how I feel on it. Of they still have any 57 t3s I'll give that a go to, albeit not loving red!
Cheers Arran

Was surprised by the stock in Warrington the other night, about 3 large T3's, 2 T7's (60 & 54) and about 20'odd T3A's!
