Also, have a look at either the 2013 or 2014 BMC Gran Fondos on Evans website?

Cheers Delb and echo7 there is an Evans not far from me, I think a visit is in order next weekend as it would be nice too see both of those and they offer a price match which is a great thing.

I sat astride a 56cm BMC Granfondo GF02 105 in Evans last weekend. Nice looking bike - the quality of finish is stunning. £1350 too.

acd1055 have you considered a Canyon? for £1399 + delivery you get hell of a bike. I had the same budget as yourself and was considering so many different bikes Cube, Focus, Giant, Specialized, Canyon. I decided on the canyon based on customer reviews the quality of the frame, full 105 group set and the decent mavic aksium wheel set. The only downside was that i hadn't sat on the bike and had to wait for 8wks for delivery but it was well worth it.

I love the look of Canyon bikes, but just wonder if the geometry is a little bit racy for me............

I've just been through the same process. Picking a bike to buy through cycle to work is a task! I settled on a good deal for Giant TCR Composite 2 2013 model - £1099. I too was looking for a good frame, but spending that amount of money i didn't want to feel the need to upgrade components either. I found this bike to be a good mix of quality frame and components.
There are still some good priced 2013 giants kicking around. The TCR might be a bit racy for you, but some 2013 Defy 0 and Defy 1 are still available at reduced prices. Some crazy deals considering the 2014 defys are pretty much identical to the 2013 models!
I considered a Canyon - but don't think they can be purchased through cycle to work? I might be wrong there though...

hi , I had a 2014 boardman team carbon for a couple of months and it was a lovely bike to ride BUT I had to take it back 4 times in a few months and then the frame started creecking from around the bottom bracket area I took it back and demanded they swap it for an ally model , I went for the cx comp which is a lovely bike but to slow for anything over 30km on the road . I then bought a t3 aswell

The new issue of Cycling Plus (due out next week, but subscribers copy arrived yesterday ) has a six bike test of carbon framed road bikes costing circa £1300. Definitely worth a read.

Sounds interesting DelB. Which bikes are reviewed? Does one come out on top?

Sounds interesting DelB. Which bikes are reviewed? Does one come out on top? You'll have to buy the magazine........ Ha! Ha! All joking apart - Cube Agree GTC, Giant TCR Composite 2, Wilier Izoard XP105, Ribble Sportive 365, Specialized Roubaix SL4 and Ridley Orion C20. The Giant wins, narrowly, from the Cube. Have to say, none of those bikes were on my radar before I read the test and none are on it now that I HAVE read the test.

Ah right, interesting. Thanks for saving me the money The cube, giant and ribble had been on my radar. I found a good deal on a 2013 TCR Composite 2 (which i think has a better groupset than the 2014 model) and decided to plump for it on the cycle to work scheme. Always nice to know that a bike one owns is rated well! Even if it doesn't float your boat...

The 2013 giant does look like a good deal at the moment... I hadn't considered it before today
