Just seen a chap in Peckham London wearing a flat cap and a helmet. He looked a complete t1t.

Did the very same thing although it was last year on my commute to work. Set off, got half way up our road then realised I was lidless!!! Quick u turn and back home, felt much less naked!

I gave up cycling in London for quite a while in favour of the motorbike, which seemed a far safer choice - not exactly how it should be, huh?
Never wore a helmet previously but now being a bit more grown up about things.

The side of my head bounced off the main road out of Fleetwood this morning. Luckily I was wearing a helmet. It is cracked in two places and I have mild concussion. If I wasn't wearing a helmet I'd be in A&E right now.

Newly laid road surface covered in large stones. My front wheel hit one and jumped up and sideways. When it came down the bike just went over to the left due to lack of grip on the damp greasy surface. Side of the head got a right smack and bounced off. Feeling a bit fuzzy/nauseous with a little pressure around the top of my nose. The biggest problem is my hip and thigh. The left thigh is pretty swollen and gravel rash abounds. Pain around the hip joint. Ribs a bit bruised and elbow too with gravel rash and swelling. Kudos to a few cars drivers that pulled up and helped out. I was pretty groggy for a bit and struggling to stand up. They weren't happy about me cycling back home but it was only half a mile or so. Apart from that everything is hunky dory. I'll survive....

PS.... there shouldn't be a debate on the issue. I was within a mile from my house. Take my advise.... WEAR A HELMET.

Glad you're alright Dave! Sounds like a nasty fall. Not sure why people wouldn't wear one when you hear stuff like this.
