Just a heads up for SKY TV viewers.
An exclusive and in-depth documentary about Chris Froome and his rise to the top of world cycling will be screened on Sky Sports News next week.
Sky cameras followed the Tour de France winner back to his roots in Africa this autumn to look at how his unconventional upbringing in Kenya helped propel him to the yellow jersey and an Olympic medal at London 2012.
The 30-minute "special report" also includes previously unseen video diaries from Froome's victory at this year's Tour.
"Chris Froome: Made In Kenya" will be screened on Sky Sports News at 7.30pm on December 30 and then repeated on Sky Sports 1 at 6.30pm on Tuesday, December 31.

Blimey , missed that one Rob . Any idea about a repeat ? Just checked the Sky Planner. Repeated on Eurosport & EurosportHD @ 10:30 am Friday 27th Dec and then again @ 9:30pm on Eurosport2 and 2HD. Having said that I did watch the original screening last night and was a bit disappointed with the Froome content! About 3 mins of interview across an hour of TDF2013 highlights. Still watched it though

The Isle of Man TT racer will attempt to break the British record of 110mph for outright speed on a bicycle.

Towed up to speed due to the fixed high gearing by a 1000bhp racing truck then in a partial vacuum due to an almighty fairing. I reckon 200 Watts of human power should be able to maintain 110mph+.

I enjoyed that - 112.94mph on a pedal bike.
Yes it was towed up to 60mph as the rules allow but the record was set just like all the others.
Really looking forwards to the rest of the series now.

Something seemed amiss to me... When Guy measured the gearing he had about 7.5/1. My bike is about 4.5/1 and I can only hit 49mph and my cadence was way higher than he was pedalling. I would need about 11/1 on my 700mm tyres to be comfortable.

I would need about 11/1 on my 700mm tyres to be comfortable. 7.5/1 was the first gearing it was tested with. During the testing on the sand they showed the gearing being changed - not sure what to. But yes - if the gearing had remained at 7.5/1 the pedal rpm would need to have been around 187rpm

Will have to watch it again but I'm sure on the first test run which was allegedly running 7.5/1 the truck speedo hit 100 and he was nowhere near crazy cadence. I just hate naff journalism because they think nobody knows anything these days. It's only schoolboy physics - well from when they taught stuff in the 70's or earlier.
Guy is a top bloke and his dry humour always makes me laugh. Wait till you see the DRZ450 on lake Bala next time. Belly pan effectively makes it a jet ski and the back tyre is like a Mississippi paddle boat.
