Excellent write-up, @perniciousviper. I've downloaded the pdf and will have a proper look through it later on. B'Twin chainsets might put me off, but no problems with dark colouring of the bikes themselves as it gives more freedom to choose what colour your clothing is, without running the risk of looking like a 1980's explosion-in-a-paint-factory.

All this black, means there will be a flourish of bright colours in 2015/16 I'm not sure I want to wait that long but I suspect you are correct.

Just had a quick look through the pdf and have to say that there's nothing there that blows my dress up. I'll likely never sell my T5a and instead hold onto it as a winter/training bike, but can't see me upgrading to another B' Twin.

Alur 700 is 1000 euros (£850) according to press.btwin.com/products/alur-700Cycle scheme was going to be sorted next week for me to get Triban 7 but might wait now and stick with hybrid over winter. But £250 extra for Alur hmmm

You sure about that £850?
Nearer £770 when I converted it or I think £700 as suggested by @perniciousviper (may be a rounded down generalisation?) - previously, the precedent is that UK prices are proportionally lower than the straight conversion - time will tell though, at £700 it is seriously attractive but still wondering about those cranks and need to see these brakes, if they're crisp neat and simple I think I can be edged round on that one. Optional crank choice would sort the other issue also. The wheels don't trouble me as they'll be swapped out.

Tell you what I find odd, is the timing of B Twins new range launches. They've announced their 2014 range now, but you can't buy them until next Spring. I appreciate that not all Triban buyers will necessarily qualify for the Decathlon Golden Anorak Awards like us guys on here, but are they missing a trick by potentially shortening their sales window to seven months out of twelve? If punters know that a new range is on the way, why would they buy now?
Just a thought.

You're right about the conversion of your figure, I converted this quote from OP's 1st link: 'the ALUR 700 will be sold only € 899.95'.

Just a thought. punt the current range heavily discounted at xmas would be the obvious answer, or indeed in the traditionally slow months of jan-march where everyone gets ridiculous with their prices - evans/bmc sale in january is the equivalent of theft imo theres always someone out there looking for a bargain road bike and i think the current triban/facet/fc are on their way i dont know why they clearly seem to be edging out the triban name though, special edition smacks of end of the road products, it has done alot to forward btwin bikes and has clearly inspired enough folk that some dafties have even gone and got bespoke kit made in honour so to drop a recognisable name within the brand range seems a bit strange

You see, simplicity would dictate that 'it is the price it is' and you buy it or you don't - £50 - £100 differences or / and missing months of riding / trading is so Gordon Gekko / RBS in mind set, can we have a progressive 'non-profit and return' approach to bike buying and riding? I bought my T3 on Dec 20th last year and had I waited for the new breed, I'd have missed the whole point of cycling and months of personal progress with the engine and ECU, which when you scrape through all the mire, is just about getting on with it. Premise - keep moving, don't stop, the tools are important but not everything, it's all a tad symbiotic but not having next year's ALUR never stopped the hardy ! I chose Geraint Thomas as an example, as opposed to Bradley Wiggins and dare I say, also Fromey, based on conduct in the last year .

If (don't hold your breath) I changed to an Alur, would I have to change my ID to fatmanonAlur? Sounds sort of pervy? Or is it just me
