Red lights shouldn't be jumped but there is one set I will cautiously cross on occasions in our neighbourhood, nobody wanted them - the community said this but were ignored, they have to be turned off in the morning as they cause road chaos with commuters backed up down the A roads and across other junctions but conversely they leave you sat there in pitch black past about 8pm, as everyone is home and tucked up in the winter. www.stevewebb.org.uk/news2007/news787.html

Glad I followed my advice of assuming you have not been seen. Nearly wiped out by a Corsa last night.
Went straight over a round about without looking. I managed to take evasive action just in time but there was a moment where I was waiting for the hit. After much swearing and adrenaline I was fine. Plenty of sympathy and shocked faces from all the other drivers. That was reassuring.
Worst moment I have had on the roads since 2005, when a double parked driver opened their door without looking. That hurt a bit.

Plan ahead. The Triban is fast enough it can be like riding a scooter. I find myself doing blindspot and lifesaver checks as taught in the CBT. www.cyclecraft.co.uk has great advice. my best friend for dealing with traffic in urban areas (realise it is heresy to some .....................) Looks like a dentists mirror. Bit off topic now, but it made me think about how long it will be before we see the pros wearing Google Glass. The information feed to that would be awesome.

The reason I'm really tempted by the one I posted is that it goes where your bar plug would be, weighs around the same as the two snickers I carry on my longer rides & it takes up next to no space: The mirror is actually glass too, whereas a lot of the mirrors I've seen are made of plastic.

Lots of vibration would make that pic really hard to see/steady, such a small area to look at and focus in on with such a small amount of time to do so, just my opinion
