I cycle to work every day, 1.2 miles there and 1.2 miles back - it's hard work!

I can't. My wrist still isn't fully healed and I live 34 miles from work, and its probably the most horrible cycle journey you can imagine (apart from cycling through a war-torn region of the world). I know its a horrible train commute!
But that is all about to change. I've quit! Im going back to my old place of work. 11 miles and most of it is on cycle paths! happy days! Actually takes the same amount of time on bike as it does one train (not including the shower once i've arrived)

I used to ride a 600cc motorbike to work everyday. And then we saw some nice weather and decided to ride my mountain bike to work. Over two months later and I am a happy owner of a red (the best) triban. Now I ride to work everyday. I can't see it changing any day soon.

Commute in most days, and did today, oddly seemed to be less bikes about than I usually see, and more cars, was held up in places that usually freely flowing

Oh dear! Impeccable timing, all those would-be cyclists out off today of all days! Lols! What's the cryptic reference in your piece to the ambulance guy?

Yes I think it was. My inner leg muscles are killing me today. Shoulder aches as well as neck. Surprising how much it hurts but at least my head and my bike are intact. Guess I'll do those rear wheel hubs now instead of riding for a few days.

The day turned out to be a very rainy one here in Walsall. Any other rainy day I would have got in the car but I was honour bound to ride - which I did! So did you?

I was on a half day but did the cycle anyway gear is still soaking wet. Have to agree with an earlier post didn't see as many bikes but then I was cycling in late.
