DelB - aye mate we are having this one, those steeper bits will just need to be battered like we did at that airport backroad, hit it hard, reach its peak, back on the saddle unfortunately Radchenister, i dont have a 32 so ill have to just suck it up

If it is a prolonged 40 - 50% , I think you might be in for a shock - doing the odd spot of really steep is not so bad but if it is longer than say 50 - 100 metres, then best of luck, don't say I didn't warn you .

Looking at it further, it does look doable, if the steep bit was at the top, not the bottom, it would be a killer but I reckon you can get over the blips and conserve some energy for a few seconds for the next blip, once at 600+ horizontal metres in, you can sit back and spin ... like I say, best of luck, off to my Nemisis in about 40 mins!!!
Sometimes think Strava peak gradients are not reliable on short blips because 50% is bonkers steep and should be beyond the limits of traction, quite often it's not quite so bad in reality and measuring the terrain wrong.
Edit: in fact, looking closely at the red track path, it criss crosses the road, so it's more like circa 20 - 25% at the first stint and then eases off, a bit like the one I did out of bath on Sunday - you'll be ok!!!

Isn't the steepest road in the uk meant to be 33%? 50% does sound quite high

I just checked out the location. Its an 820 mile round trip so I won't be trying it any time soon. Its spelt Talla by the way. It looks awesome. Has anyone tried one of those electrically assisted bikes?

I rode one of those electric bikes years ago, bloke in upstairs flat when we lived in Clifton was a journalist for the Evening Post in Bristol and had one on trial for a few days so we had fun, I used to live off Constitution Hill - we had fun, did make it easy.

...is anyone going to ask about my hill climb this afternoon then? You're still alive, so I guess you either beat it or you didn't bother going out after all ...............

Had one Bristol Channel weather front rain storm just spit at me (missed the main bit) but got gunked up from the spray, as the roads were wet through at Cambridge as I got there (the other one). Cruised out and back, concentrated on the main issue and made it up the hill ok, started feeling quite good about half way but didn't overdo it as still wary of blowing it. Only bottom third of table but I've done it in one hit now, so chuffed with that for now; I reckon I can better it a fair few chunks with some more goes, now I've got the measure of it. Technique was slow and easy all the way. One standing churn for about 20 - 30 secs after the first set of steep corners and just two more short blasts of standing with the burners over the blips (all amongst the long red and black bits below); otherwise, just slid back in saddle and made a conscious effort to keep my heels down, this hit the big muscle groups and sorted a sustainable pace nicely, could have gone on for longer than the hill or pushed a bit faster - but we've got something to work with now. Rolled over the top to some nice Vangelis, the sun was peeking through clouds, rays of light streaming into the Berkeley Vale with backdrop vistas all the way across the estuary to Wales, down to Bristol and up to Gloucester ... trundled home in a good mood through the lanes ... sorted! app.strava.com/athletes/1476061

Which Vangelis track Rad? Used to love his stuff especially some of collaboration he did with Yes frontman Jon Anderson.

I'll have to look it up - spanned two tracks well into the best of album; monastic type stuff as I crested, almost as if designed for the moment .

Really like those graphs showing the hills, playing around with it now on segments I've ridden seems 0.3miles of 6% is all I can manage to ride atm, definitely need to improve my fitness/lose tons of weight.

Main part of climb - track called 'Cosmos' (Theme from TV series): Crested about 30 seconds into this, then rolled along past the Long Barrow (burial mound at Nymphsfield) listening to this and looking at the view - track called '12 O'Clock' :

Great Stuff. Brings back a lot of memories, particularly the first track. Reminds me of the days before I became a family man and could indulge in a bit perception enhancement. "Heaven & Hell" was one of my favourites. There is a short solo By Jon Anderson in it which just makes me go weak.
I'm not going to ride with headphones however!
