Hi all
my Triban 3a is still new to me but I am already looking ahead to those rainy, windy days and nights come autumn and winter.
what would be everyone's essential purchases for this season? So far I've not upgraded anything on the bike but I do have Clarks gold brake pads on the way.

seriously is a road bike a viable winter commuter? I don't see why not, planning to use my T7 all year round. Used top commute on a 1100cc motorbike when most people put them away as soon as it gets cold.

seriously is a road bike a viable winter commuter? Yes I think so, especially with mudguards. Take it steady especially if icy but that's same for all bikes. Personally if icy I take out old MTB - mainly as care less if I fall off and damage that bike than my beloved T3!!!

Was most concerned about grip with such thin tyres come the cold

I'll be back on the MTB for my winter commute, it just seems easier for me. Last winter i skidded right across the road when i hit ice on a morning ride - how i stayed on the bike i really don't know, i was clipped in too!

I've never managed more than 40 minutes on mine - soooooo boring! Usually watch the TV or listen to music on headphones.

This might be stupid but what about spin classes off youtube? There are a few ranging between 20-60 minutes, something to focus on and keep up with?

I just had a wee nosey as well and the gcn channel have some too, i'm addicted to their channel they have loads of 'how to' clips. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but worth a bash i reckon.
