T3 (white one) is a decent bike for the money for people just starting out, In this world you get what you pay for ? It has great reviews anywhere i looked which is why i bought it so i dont know where you seen people putting it down, i bought it to get into road biking, i did not buy it to turn pro, there are prolly more expencive bikes out there that are not as good, as for the microshifters ive nothing to compare to but they do the job they are meant to do, all in all ive no complaints about the bike altho i am upgrading the wheels and tyres and therefor the rear cassette, imo you cant go far wrong with a white t3.

Now I own one of each of the 3's (well kinda as the white one is the lad's) I can report that it isn't as light but perfectly functional, mine (54) is currently noticeably lighter when lifted, with my wheel upgrades, pedals and other bits I've shaved a fair bit off - the steel forks obviously make a difference here. My lad was a bit stretched on his today, he had a few aches and pains in the hands and back - we'll have him a short stem very soon, so much of that will be resolved. The bike ran fine, the gears worked perfectly straight off (Matt at Wednesbury to thank) and the shifters appeared fine for his little hands. He is going to be the opposite to me in performance terms, presently fast up hills and slow on the flats, a product of being a midge. As a total newbie and a very young one, he's also cautious and having to learn many things I take for granted - drivers this afternoon were trickier to deal with as the slower pace made them more edgy around us - they don't tend to mess with me when I'm moving at almost their pace - put a child up front or behind and a few come over all fractious. We have a new dialogue and hand signals for 'red changes' (colour band on bars) involving left clicks / pulls and the same for 'white changes'; he likes me to give him prompts on what to change over different terrain and it's now working well. Not a bad first effort, a few stops for alterations and tweaks plus rest breaks - OK for a 10 / nearly 11 year old's first outing in the heat. app.strava.com/activities/69963588#kudos
